Position Title: Japanese Bilingual Tax Manager

Location: Remote

Classification: Full-Time / Exempt

Work Schedules: Monday – Friday (40 Hours)

 

Summary

Our client, a respected public accounting and consulting firm, is seeking a dedicated Tax Manager to join their growing practice. This role functions as a central pillar of the engagement team, often acting as the primary liaison for client communications.

The Tax Manager will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of tax returns, provisions, and transfer pricing, while also collaborating with clients to develop effective tax strategies and operational policies. In addition to client service, this position plays a vital role in the internal growth of the firm by leading training sessions and fostering the career development of Staff and Senior accountants.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Engagement Oversight: Plan and execute multiple tax engagements simultaneously. Manage personal workflow and supervise the time and output of Staff and Seniors to ensure projects are completed within deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Technical Review: Utilize professional experience and academic training to perform technical reviews of complex tax returns, including corporate, partnership, dual-status, and expatriate individual filings.
  • Regulatory Liaison: Oversee the drafting of correspondence to federal and state taxing authorities regarding complex tax issues. Represent clients directly during interactions with tax auditors.
  • Research & Analysis: Interpret tax laws regarding intricate client transactions and audit questions. Review research performed by junior staff, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Transfer Pricing & Provisions: Analyze transfer pricing studies and tax provisions prepared by the team, ensuring accuracy and compliance for financial statement reporting.
  • Client Consultation: Build lasting client satisfaction by leading meetings and providing timely, effective consultation on a wide range of tax matters. Identify opportunities to offer additional value-added professional services.
  • Team Leadership: Promote a positive, diverse work environment. Motivate, train, and coach Staff and Seniors to accelerate their professional development, while providing timely performance evaluations.
  • Professional Growth: Maintain an in-depth understanding of tax concepts and stay current on emerging tax developments and specialized areas.

Qualifications

  • Education: Undergraduate degree in Accounting, or a tax concentration within an accredited accounting program.
  • Licensure: Active CPA or EA license is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of tax service experience within a public accounting firm.

Required

  • Technical Skills: Demonstrated experience in preparing individual, business, benefit fund, real estate, and exempt organization tax returns.
  • Software Proficiency: Strong command of tax accounting software, Microsoft Excel, and Word.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are essential for building business relationships.
  • Project Management: Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and manage team dynamics effectively.
  • Language: Business-level proficiency in English and Japanese

Preferred

  • Prior Experience: Previous experience specifically in a Tax Manager role is a plus.
